Tips for managing stress
Limit Screen Time
While screen time is a major aspect of life these days, too much of it can cause a stress response. Try reading a book or picking up a hobby away from the screens.
Practice Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Maybe you could try going for a walk and notice what your surroundings look and sound like.
Move your Body
Exercise and stress management go hand in hand because physical activity reduces stress hormone levels and stimulates the production of endorphins.
Focus on your Breath
Take a deep breath in. Hold it. Now let it out. Straight away, you may notice a difference in how you feel. Breathing exercises are so good at de-stressing you because they bring back the body to the feeling of relaxation.
Debrief with a Loved One
Studies have shown that simply talking about our problems and sharing our negative emotions with someone we trust can be profoundly healing—it’s a way to relieve stress, strengthen our immune system, and reduce physical and emotional distress.
